Rochester was fun, I'm on my way home now. Sorry I didn't get to see many of you.... We ate at Dinosaur last night, got there early, 6ish, and were seated right away (that's a first for me!) .. I was brave and tried a new item on the menu, a burger style sandwich with a grilled portabello and pulled pork on top.. With onions and cheese... Sooooo yummy! But it was messy enough without adding much slathering sauce.
I just stopped at DiBella's for a sandwich and I'm going to try to nibble it while driving and finish it up when I stop in Binghamton.
The job fair was fine... Much more laid back than the RIT fair.. But employers were OK with that I guess... I just didn't see many ties, and maybe 1 person wearing a suit. Lots of people looking for co-ops.
The NAVSEA folks were fun to chat with... They did interviews today. Dave Jarvis from NAVAIR Orlando gave a nice presentation this morning about applying for government jobs via the Navy websites. And I got to tell them about my issues with communication and day to day things.
Gordon enjoyed himself and I think he was the best communicator during the fair. Dave is used to being the boss and making people slow down or repeat their sign... But the ASL flying all around me was tricky and wore me out pretty quick.
I got to visit with Denise in admissions, but Shirley Baker has retired (again, this might be her 3rd try at retirment hehe)... I saw Valery Yust in audiology, but Doug McKenzie has moved to Geneseo and is teaching. All the NTID employment office people I know are there and John Macko was running the workshop on tuesday morning for employers. I missed that, but oh well.
Karen Black wants to contact me for publicity stuff, she loves "my story" and tracked me down to make sure she had her facts right and to see if I'd be interewted in helping again. I always feel odd about representing NTID since I would have been "fine" at any other college. And I didn't go to NTID, I went to RIT. But maybe there aren't a lot of people who do that and they're trying to showcase diversity. As long as they include other NTID students too, I guess its ok.
Anyway, time to quit typing and Really head home. Mom and dad are on their way to VT, so its just gram, gramps and the cats to visit in Binghamton.
