SMTP servers
Dec. 11th, 2004 10:02 pmSince I don't have a comcast account anymore I lost the SMTP server that i used to use... I set up the gmail server to send an email to someone from my laptop (most email i send goes from my sidekick). Well I didn't get a response to that email, and forgot about it. Tonight I logged into gmail to send someone an invite, and there, in my inbox, was the response to that email I sent the other day! Huh? How did it get there?
smtp.gmail.com sets your from address to your gmail account. This is fine, now that I know.
I found an applescript that sets the reply-to address on all my outgoing messages, so hopefully people will be able to get back to me in case I forget to check gmail. I guess I could check gmail regularly.... maybe I will... either via pop or via forwarding... hmm.
I miss the RIT Outing Club grace account that I used until this fall when someone changed the password for the first time in 3 years. :)
