I can't wait for the next NMCI survey. I've got stuff to say this time!!!!!

I called Monday when I got this laptop and couldn't log in.. they spent 3 hours on the phone helping me fix things. Then I asked about the software for the RAS account so I can dial in to get mail remotely (which is the whole point of having the laptop) and he said he would set up to push the software for that. Well, stupid me put the laptop away over night and found emails in my inbox saying 'we tried to send the software, but couldn't find the workstation on the network). Ooops. So I replied to the email saying they could let me know when they wanted to push it and I would put the thing online. I left it docked overnight in my boss's cube... but yesterday morning, still no software. I emailed about it and they said they'd reassign it with a high priority. I left the laptop on and connected.. still nothing this morning... I called when I first got in and they said they would have it pushed within the hour. Now, still nothing! I emailed again, we'll see what happens.

Another issue, this computer has a 18+ gig hard drive... with less than 2 gigs of space free. I transferred my 2 gigs of documents and emails (yeowch) so I'm not dying for space, but.... it's previous owner is retired, and there's no reason why his files have to be taking up 10 gigs of space! (only an estimate since I can't even view the sizes of the files in his profile folders)

I called the help desk and they told me that I had to contact the local representative. That local person said to fill out a form. So I did that... he calls me asking what my problem with the laptop is (after I'd already explained it to him and his assistant). I explained again... he said 'we could probably re-image the drive'. What?? Then I'd have to get all the software that isn't default re-installed... it has AutoCAD on it.. that's impossible to get these days. I would have to retransfer all of my own stuff... I'd rather just do without the space. Sheesh. Give me admin rights and I'll fix it with one keystroke!

Greetings Shiney Happy Kiters,

Frozen Breezes is upon us!
This weekend on the ice at Lake George!

Here's the details:

We will be flying on the ice at the South end of the
Lake, near the Million Dollar Beach, from 10am-3pm
Kite building with kids will take place in the
'warming hut' at 11 am and 1 pm. (We can always use
volunteers to help with this...)
There is will be large Peter Lynn kites, kite skiing
demos, and of course lots of flying...
PLEASE, bring your banners, I will drill you a hole in
the ice for rebar and you can put up your banners!

Saturday evening we will be heading to dinner in mass
to The Boardwalk Restaurant. This will be a pay at
the door sort of thing... But they have offered a
special menu for us... For $11.95 you can choose from:
(1) 10 oz sirloin served over garlic toast;
(2) stuffed chicken breast w/cranberry dressing
(3) grilled swordfish;
(4) single pork chop.
All meals include salad bar & side of potatoe or rice.

Drinks and tip will be additional.

Sunday morning the Lake George Arts Project (that is
sponsoring our being there) will be feeding us
breakfast. Location TBA.

Sunday we will be on the ice from 10am - 2pm

Side notes:
Weather forecast is calling for highs in the upper
30's on Saturday and 40's on Sunday.
Dress warm, in layers, and remember to take extra care
to remember your feet. Standing on ice all day makes
for cold toes...

Again, bring lots of banners and of course kites...

In case you didn't know, take I-87 (Northway) to exit
21. Turn right at the end of exit ramp. Turn left at
the traffic light onto 9N. Follow 9N into Lake George.
We'll be at the South End of the Lake, near the
Million Dollar Beach, and where the large tour boats
dock...

Most of us are staying at the Super 8 of Lake George:
