Oh No! I finished my book :)
Mar. 8th, 2005 08:02 pmI finished it finally... I'm going to read it again sometime. But I think mom wants to read it while she's here in CO. I don't know, they've been watching a lot of TV this week. Annoying for me since the condo's TV doesn't have captions! Grrr. It's ok, gives me an excuse to sit here with my laptop and type, catch up online, etc.
We skied at Keystone yesterday, a first for me. Personally, I was bored for most of the day. The snow was TOO SMOOTH... except on the mogul trails, and they were TOO LONG. But, I got some sun. And dad and I had one nice run down a mogul trail. It isn't a bad resort... just not my favorite. I had the same experience at Stratton in VT.
Today we went to Copper. Normal tickets are $67, but $59 at the sports shop in town, and with a season pass holder present you can get them for $48. Good deal. We're basically averaging $47 a ticket for all 4 days we'll ski.
Today, it SNOWED! All Day Long. We were so wet after just one ride up the lift (Super Bee, takes 10 minutes, but goes up 1000s of feet, I forget how much exactly) and the ski down to the Solitude lodge that's maybe 1/3 of the way down the mountain.
Dad and I left mom and Tim and did a bunch of runs on the Excelerator lift. This is a 3 minute ride that takes you to the top of 4 or 5 mogul runs. The snow was coming down hard and we had 4-6 inches of powder covering everything. It was hard to see at times, but lovely skiing.
At lunch I checked out the trail map and decided that the glade that connected Collage and Bouncer looked fun. So dad and I went down that. Sadly, he quit for the day at the bottom of that run! And mom quit one run later. Tim and I managed 1 more... but then they sun came out, so we went to the top again for pictures.
At the top I convinced him to try riding the Poma lift... all was going lovely, but then the lift stopped and the guy at the bottom yelled to get off of it. So we did. Only made it a third of the way up. The snow was deep but not too bumpy. Tim says the lift stopping was a sign... it was definitely time to quit.
We made it back down and then went into a bar called Jack's for Apres Ski. Tim had a couple of beers and we listened to the live music. Good end to a nice day.
Tomorrow, we kite ski! :-D
