My "offer"
Sep. 10th, 2005 11:06 pmI was trying not to think about work and jobs this weekend... Friday was especially hectic with the DoT interview and then spending the day at Hopkins Food Service, the small consulting firm.
But I was a bit uncomfortable about the environment at Hopkins and really wanted to discuss it with Don or someone.
As I said to Kay on IM, "would you take a job with a boss who liked kisses hello and goodbye and holds your hand when he talks to you?" Her response was "what have you gotten yourself into?" "Nothing yet." Still, I felt maybe he's really harmless, just affectionate, and I'm over reacting or imagining things?
So I talked to Don about it too. When Richard spoke to me I felt he was invading my personal space. At times he'd take my hand and stroke it as he spoke. He put his hand on my leg, he pulled my chair closer to his. And yes, kiss hello and goodbye instead of the normal handshake.
We decided Friday night that I wouldn't be comfortable working there.
Just a strange thing.
I wasn't going to post this right away because it's quite disappointing to have my 1 offer be Too much of an offer. But I still feel very confident on the job search front. I got an interview invitation from Gallaudet's research department :):) and apart from being Young, I think I'm probably their best candidate. :) and there is the recommendation from Scott to the JSF contractor.
