Grandpa-isms
Jul. 5th, 2004 10:10 amI love my family.
Gramps was in the hospital all last week. He has an ulcer and it was bleeding. They'd give him blood and the next day his red blood cell count would be low again. But they let him out Saturday morning and he came out to the lake and went swimming and sailing yesterday. He seems to be doing great... How many 90 year olds do you know who can jump off a dock into the lake and then climb back up the ladder?
He said the hospital was a good rest for him. The nurses were always bringing him food and icecream. They'd give him baths and massages.. Don't get that at home! :) they asked him how he got so tan on his back and he told them he skied all winter! :) they asked him where he wanted to go when he got out of the hospital and he told them Golden Pond. They asked where that was and he told them Thunder Mountain. :)
Perfect Grandpa-isms.
I left before he was up this morning, but I kissed him goodbye and told him to be good and "don't go near the water," his resopnse to anyone telling him what to do.
I gave hasty hugs to mom, dad and gramma and got in my car before they could see me crying.
I don't know why this made me so sad. But the 50% of the time that I think I'd like to move "home" is always a lot higher when I have to leave there...
