I didn't sleep that great. A lot on my mind after talking with dale for a few hours last night. I asked him to find me a job. I want to know more about NLX... Or Rockwell Collins he tells me, NLX was bought out... To me, that sounds like a bad thing, big companies usually think they can do more with less people, but Dale says he thinks its mostly good... But less of the small company feel.

Anyway, he quizzed me on my hobbies and said that the Mechanical team leader likes people to be hands-on and enjoy getting dirty for their projects. I admitted that most of the time when I "work on" something its computer stuff, maybe I should have been a computer engineer... But even so, it sounds like a welcome change from sitting at my desk all day every day.

He didn't make any promises or tell me what hed to to help, if anything, but he was asking enough about why I want to go back to Binghamton and how serious I am for me to think he might try talking to some people... If he remembers. Whatever. I'll fix up my resume and send him a copy as a reminder sometime.

I'm not 100% serious or sure about going back there... But I would like an interview.

But back to focusing on the present. I'm in a hotel room in Crystal City... On the 7th floor. My room has a wonderfully wide window sill which I can perch on (like in that movie Lost In Translation). Below me is a 6 lane road, a CVS and a family restaurant called the Kabob Place.

I have a meeting today with DARPA and the university experts they've hired to work on the Passive/Advanced JBD project. I'm down here with a Systems Engineer named Al. This is their Go/No-Go meetng and my job is to make them be practical in their design planning. Sure using 55 small fans might help cool the system, but think of the maintenance issues aboard a carrier! Since Al is here, my job is mostly to keep from rolling my eyes as he wonderes why our meeting lasted 12 hours.... He's the most rambling, talkative guy I know.

And we're off to the meeting.
