Paddling update
Aug. 10th, 2004 01:35 pmRoaming on Rogers AT&T Wireless network costs .01 cents/kilobyte... But some of the islands have TMobile service that doesn't require roaming. I'm on TMobile now :) on the other side of the island though I can only get Rogers.
Anyway... Monday, yesterday, mom and I paddled from Camelot to Mullcastor island. Dad and Sian sailed and arrived an hour or so after us. They left later than we did though. It was an easy paddle, with the wind and with the current. We snaked through the shallow bays and inbetween islands where GoGo can't go easily. And the wind was good for Sian's first sailing experience.
The swimming on Mullcastor isn't my favorite, its shallower and weedy... But we managed. About 3:30 Sian and I headed to the closest marina (Peck's, about a mile away on the Canadian shore). We picked up bread and a block of ice. That took us about 2 hours.
For dinner we had a whole package of turkey bacon, the rest of the eggs (about 5), scambled with some cheddar cheese, and the bacon grease. And salad. Then we had chips and salsa afterwards. It was good.
This morning we ate the cantalope, it was decent, but not great.
We left Mullcastor about 10:40 and got to Georgina an hour later. Mom and dad motored and arrived first. We are on a single finger dock on the Southern side. There isn't much boat traffic, so not a lot of bouncing, but we are almost under the 1000 Island bridge. So the truck traffic is noisy, and they are sanding and painting the arched span of the bridge. Not the most peaceful place... But the current is fun, and the island is one of my favorites.
