If I had evenings like this more often I'd... Something...

I'm tired. I just might be able to fall asleep tonight. Before midnight too! Oh, wait, it IS midnight... Scratch that.

Sean came about 5:15. We drove to Island Heights and skated in the parking lot by the town hall and police station. Sean's skating is 300% better than it was at Philly in June. Just 2 months ago. He's also got better skates.

We did a loop around the island and back to the parking lot. I forgot to bring socks so my feet were starting to rub bad, so I was ready to stop around 6:30.

We talked to a local attorney who lives there. He wanted to know about our kayaks. He had paddled a sit on top with his yatch club and thought ours looked a lot nicer. He wasn't sure about the $2000+ price tag. I got the chance to ask him about yatch clubs... Whoever told me that you had to be rich and popular to join was right. They were also right that I'm probably not interested. The Toms River yacht club costs $750 a quarter or so. Yikes. He did give me his business card and said if I was interested to give him a call and I could go as a guest and check it out. What I'd really like is a sailing club or a boat house club. Not terribly interested in social dinner parties. Not looking for that kind of husband. :)

So we skated, then ate apples, and then drove to Seaside Park. But by then it was after sunset and a dead calm. No kite people left, if they ever even attempted to fly.

We launched from Peddles and Paddles near Seaside Heights and Ortley Beach. Nice launch when there's noone else there. Easy to find again in the dark.

We paddled south and around Pellican Island, back north under the toms river bridge. Just as we headed away from the bridge the fireworks started. Good show! I'm sorry this was the first time I'd seen them. Seaside Heights has fireworks every Wednesday night in the summer, but tonight was the last time for this year.

By the time they ended the moon was up above the houses. Bright Orange like normal over the ocean. I saw the bid dipper and I tried looking for scorpio the teapot but didn't find him. Too much hazy light pollution.

We paddled north until we were just south of west point island. Then we turned back south along the shore to get back to the car.

We got back just before 10:30 and I called Klee's to see how late they're open, midnight. So we went there for food.

Now I'm home, showered and need to sleep.

Quoi?
