John really liked living at New Hampshire Commons (the nice but
expensive complex I wrote about yesterday). He said he would move back
there again without hesitation. He and his wife own a house now.

Sure, its a nice complex. One of the nicest around that allows cats I
think. It is only about 8 miles from work too. I could live there...
But why live there if I'm going to DC and won't be living there? No, I
think I am hoping the 2nd floor of the Lakehurst house suits me. Saving
money is a good thing.

But this really makes what I've been telling the powers at work true.
"I don't care if I go to DC now or later, but I Need to Know so I can
decide how much to pay for a place! If I'm living in it I don't mind
paying more to be comfortable. But if I am going away then why spend
extra on an empty place?" I think they understand.

The talk with Vince on Thursday really cheered me. I'm going to try to
meet with Bill Reviere on Monday. Then to get Bob Barro to help with
the money. It would be easier for me if I didn't have this feeling
still that I Could be working in DC by December 1st!

Oooh.. Tayden just pounced over my head and is kissing my nose.

my dad had knee surgery... not recently... it was when I was in High school.

i remember the day he hurt it
we were skiing together at Greek Peak
it was warm and sunny and the mogules were so soft
he was jumping around from one to the next
and i said to him 'hey dad... you're not 25.. be careful!'
we went our separate ways when i found a friend of mine to ski with
a few runs later i saw dad.... limping up the hill in the general direction of the ski patrol shack.  i suppose i said 'i told you to be careful.'  i don't really remember.

About 3:30 today Alison IMed me and asked what I was up to. Turns out we were both lazy and bored and not even dressed yet... Decided this must be corrected!

She was dying to go out to Pete and Elda's, a restaurant in Neptune. They have The Best thin crust pizza I've ever had. Its nothing fancy, no ricotta or feta cheese or anything... Just really good. The crust is so thin it kind of reminds me of crackers. You have to try it.

Anyway I told her I didn't care what time, but it would probably be busy later than earlier. She said naaah, its the off season.

They came for me around 6:20. Its a bit of a drive, probably 30 minutes or more. We got there and it was packed with people waiting outside. Luckily she found a parking spot right as someone was leaving. We left my name and told them we're dead, so please come find us. Went and sat at the bar. This place had at least half a dozen wide screen thin panel displays. Plasma?? Or are the LCD TVs getting a lot better?? I'm not sure.

Anyway.. 45 mins later the waitress came and found us. I love going out to eat with people who sign. It doesn't matter how noisy it is. Just need a little elbow room.

Alison is hard of hearing, like me, talks well.. Her boyfriend, Josh, is deaf, no hearing aids. He can speak some but generally doesn't. He doesn't need to with us. Alison is taking ASL classes at OCC. I think she plans on a teaching career when she finishes. Either with young kids as a teacher of the deaf, or maybe ASL. Im not sure, I should ask her.

Anyway, the pizza was yummy. We then went to Hoffman's for icecream. Also yummy, but a bit cool out for it. Luckily her dad's house is nearby in Spring Lake (gorgeous area I think). He wasn't home, but we stopped in anyway.

I've fallen in love with that house. It might be my favorite ever. You enter into the living room and there is a HUGE huge fireplace with the whole wall around it made of bricks. There are cathedral ceilings and a balcony or loft above. Behind the chimney is the kitchen and dining room and then Alison told me, 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Upstairs there is a den and the master suite with another bathroom. There are beams across the ceiling.. I can just picture my cats walking around up there. *sigh*

Turns out it is a very old building.. Built in the early 1800s. It was a horse barn that's been totally renovated. Has to be worth close to a million given its location in Spring Lake. I'd have taken picures, but it was dark and I had icecream in my hands ;)

Now we're heading home I think.
