Don tells me that he loves the city because the possibilities are endless.
I'm starting to see what he means. Just from reading the free version of
the Washington Post every morning on the Metro I picked out things I wanted
to do or see. I've started saving web site addresses to look at later.
Yesterday I discovered that there are indeed productions at Fords Theatre
(Gramma told me she wants to see it and I asked if they still use it or if
it's just a tourist attraction, but neither of us knew). And that they are
showing Big River there and that it has been extended another month due to
its popularity. So I last night I ordered tickets to see that in May.
There's a Film Festival today through next weekend. Next weekend there will
be some kind of big jazz jam festival thing that might be cool to check out.
And on top of this there are all the museums and monuments that I've hardly
had the chance to visit yet.
Things are going well enough. I made it to work pretty early today. I left
home at 6:50 and was here at 7:22. If I had caught the shuttle from the
apartment I would have made it faster too. But walking is good for me. I'm
always going to walk on the way home unless it's pouring. I usually miss
both busses in that direction anyway.
The cats are settled in. They love the balcony because of the cement.. they
drop and roll on it as soon as I open the door for them. But being on the
15th floor I'm too nervous to leave them out there unattended. I need to
rinse off the plastic chairs and start sitting out there myself.
I need to spend some time picking up this weekend so that when the maid
comes on Monday she might actually vacuum and clean. Last week she took one
look at the boxes and just took the vacuum she stored in my closet and left.
Not a problem, I didn't expect anything different.
I need to gather up some clothes and drop them off at the dry cleaners.
Believe it or not, I've never left anything at the dry cleaners before in my
life. But, since work pays for it, and since I have to dress up every day,
it's going to become a habit I think. Hopefully it will let me get my
morning routine back down below half an hour :)
Now, I need to work. :)
