Home $weet home
Sep. 2nd, 2005 09:00 pmHousing prices are insane down here. I knew it was a lot for each month, but I guess it really sank in when they showed the total for the year as more than $20,000. My lease is for a year and 14 days starting on the 17th of Sept. But, I have a key now so I can move any big stuff I find in earlier. Like a washer and dryer.
The landlady, Eunice, is nice, hard to tell her age, but she owns a realty business, but might be mostly retired. The owner is her son Joseph. he bought the house when he was 27, but looks about 50 now. Hard to tell too.
The lease is 8 pages long and then a page or 2 of addenums. All done up by the realtor, my realtor, Christine. She gets half of the first months rent. I tried to write her a check for all of it though, oops. Now I'm out of checks. But I'll use the credit union's web billing.
It was fun seeing the house again. I didn't remember it quite right. The kitchen is in the front, to the left. To the right is a living room I had totally forgotten about.
I forgot that the room with the woodstove has glass shelves in the corners of the room, and hardwood floor around the border of the rug.
They are planning to get the dock finished before I move in. It will have stairs extending from the sun deck that's already there down to the dock pilings (also there already).
There's a basement too. I didn't see that last time.
Can't wait to explore it thoroughly. Hopefully there will be mostly good surprises.
